CBSE ने 9वीं और 10 वीं कक्षा में English communicative course को पूरे देशभर में खत्म करने का फैसला किया है। इसके साथ-साथ 12वीं के लिए अंग्रेजी के वैकल्पिक पेपर के साथ-साथ 4 अन्य विषयों को खत्म करने का फैसला किया है। यह फैसला अगले अकादमिक सत्र से लागू होगा।
टाइम्स ऑफ इंडिया में छपी खबर के मुताबिक 9वीं और 10 वीं के सिलेबस से इंग्लिश कम्युनेकेटिव (पेपर कोड-101), इंफोर्मेशन एंड कम्युनिकेशन टेक्नोलॉजी (पेपर कोड 166) और ईपब्लिशिंग और ईऑफिस (पेपर कोड 354 और 454) को भी हटाने का फैसला किया है।
12वीं कक्षा के सिलेबस से इंग्लिश इलेटिव (पेपर कोड 101), मल्टीमीडिया और वेब टेक्नोलॉजी (पेपर कोड 067) और मोहनीअट्टम डांस (पेपर कोड 062) को हटाने का फैसला किया है।

9वीं और 10वीं कक्षा के छात्रों को ये कोर्स लगभग एक दशक से पढ़ाए जा रहे थे। सीबीएसई ने अपने सर्कुलर में इस बारे में कोई सफाई नहीं दी है कि इन कोर्सेज को क्यों हटाया गया है। इस फैसले से इंग्लिश लैंग्वेज और लिटरेचर अपने आप अनिवार्य विषय हो जाएगा।
हालांकि फैसले में यह कहा गया है कि 10 वीं के वे छात्र 2018-19 में इंग्लिश कम्युनेकेटिव के कोर्स की पढ़ाई जारी रख सकेंगे जिन्होंने 9वीं में इस कोर्स की पढ़ाई की है।
