क्रांतिकारी भगत सिंह का नाम सबसे पहले :
भारत के सबसे प्रभावशाली क्रान्तिकारियो की प्रथम सूची में क्रांतिकारी भगत सिंह का नाम प्रमुखता से लिया जाता है। जब कभी भी हम उन शहीदों के बारे में सोचते है जिन्होंने देश की आज़ादी के लिये अपने प्राणों की आहुति दी तब हम बड़े गर्व से भगत सिंह का नाम ले सकते है।
आज भारत के सबसे प्रसिद्द क्रांतिकारी स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भगत सिंह जी की 110 वीं जयंती है। शहीदे आजम भगत सिंह का जन्म 27 सितंबर, 1907 को लायलपुर ज़िले के बंगा में हुआ था, जो अब पाकिस्तान में है। उनके पिता का नाम किशन सिंह और माता का नाम विद्यावती था। भगत सिंह का परिवार एक आर्य-समाजी था जी पहले सिख थे।
जलियांवाला बाग हत्याकांड :
सिर्फ 12 साल की उम्र में जलियांवाला बाग हत्याकांड के साक्षी रहे भगत सिंह की सोच पर ऐसा असर पड़ा कि उन्होंने स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में बढ़ चढ़ कर हिस्सा लिया और लाहौर के नेशनल कॉलेज की पढ़ाई छोडक़र भारत की आजादी के लिए ‘नौजवान भारत सभा’ की स्थापना भी कर डाली।
बाद में भगत सिंह को महान क्रांतिकारी चंद्रशेखर आजाद का साथ मिला। दोनों ने साथ मिलकर रामप्रसाद बिस्मिल के संगठन “हिन्दुस्तान रिपब्लिकन एसोसिएशन” को नाम बदल कर “हिंदुस्तान सोशलिस्ट रिपब्लिकन एसोसिएसन” नाम से बढाया। काकोरी कांड के बाद राम प्रसाद बिस्मिल को पकड़ कर फांसी की सज़ा दी गयी थी जिसके बाद चंद्रशेखर आज़ाद इसके अध्यक्ष बने! भगत सिंह ने राजगुरु और आजाद के साथ मिलकर 17 दिसम्बर 1928 को लाहौर के एएसपी जे पी सांडर्स की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी जिसके बाद वो अपराधी घोषित कर दिए गए और बाद में उन्हें इसी कर के लिए मृत्युदंड दिया गया!

ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के विरुद्ध खुले विद्रोह :
बलिदानी का साहसी क्रांतिकारी व्यक्तित्व एक तरफ रखकर देखें तो पता चलता है, कि वे एक सरस,सन्तुलित और उदार मानव थे। आजादी के इस मतवाले ने पहले लाहौर में ‘सांडर्स-वध’ और उसके बाद दिल्ली की सेंट्रल असेम्बली में चंद्रशेखर आजाद और पार्टी के अन्य सदस्यों के साथ ध्वनि बम-विस्फोट कर ब्रिटिश साम्राज्य के विरुद्ध खुले विद्रोह को बुलंदी दी और अंग्रेजों को ये बताया कि वो भारत में अपनी बंदूकों की दम पर नहीं बल्कि भारतीयों की उदारता और अहिंसा के कारन जमे हुए हैं और अब हिन्दुस्तानी उन्हें नहीं सहना चाहते और उनके अत्याचारों से आज़ादी चाहिए!

अंग्रेजों के दिल में भगत सिंह के नाम का खौफ :
शहीद भगत सिंह ने इन सभी कार्यो के लिए वीर सावरकर के क्रांतिदल ‘अभिनव भारत’ की भी सहायता ली और इसी दल से बम बनाने के गुर सीखे। वीर स्वतंत्रता सेनानी ने अपने दो अन्य साथियों सुखदेव और राजगुरु के साथ मिलकर काकोरी कांड को अंजाम दिया, जिसने अंग्रेजों के दिल में भगत सिंह के नाम का खौफ पैदा कर दिया।
8 अप्रैल 1929 को सेंट्रल असेम्बली में पब्लिक सेफ्टी और ट्रेड डिस्प्यूट बिल पेश हुआ। अंग्रेजी हुकूमत को अपनी आवाज सुनाने और अंग्रेजों की नीतियों के प्रति विरोध प्रदर्शन के लिए भगत सिंह और बटुकेश्वर दत्त ने असेम्बली में बम फोडक़र लोगों, नेताओं और सरकारी अधिकारीयों की नज़रो में छा गए और उन्हें अपनी बात सरकार और लोगों के सामने रखने का मंच कोर्ट रूम को बनाया जहाँ उनके ऊपर मुक़दमे चले और उन मुकदमों की सभी ख़बरें अख़बारों ने विस्तार से छपीं!
दोनों चाहते तो भाग सकते थे, लेकिन भारत के निडर पुत्रों ने हंसते-हंसते आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया। देश की आजादी के लिये सब कुछ कुर्बान कर देने की चाहत ने भगत सिंह को इस कदर निडर बना दिया था कि उन्हे मौत का तनिक भी खौफ नहीं था और उन्होंने अपनी बात लोगों तक पहुंचा कर नींद में सोयी सरकारों और अहिंसा की राजनीति के नशे में घूम रही जनता को होश में लाने का कार्य पूरा किया!

रात के अंधेरे में ही अंतिम संस्कार :
फांसी की सजा सुनाये जाने पर भी वह बेहद सामान्य थे। फांसी के दिन भी वह अखबार पलटते रहे और साथियों के साथ मजाक करते रहे। 23 मार्च 1931 की रात भगत सिंह को सुखदेव और राजगुरु के साथ लाहौर षडयंत्र के आरोप में अंग्रेजी सरकार ने फाँसी पर लटका दिया। सरकार ने देश के नेताओं का प्रतिनिधित्व कर रहे गाँधी जी से भगत सिंह की फांसी पर बात की पर कांग्रेस नेताओं से इसपर विरोध ने मिलने से उन्होंने तीनो क्रांतिकारियों का निर्णय नहीं टाला |
यह बताया जाता है कि मृत्युदंड के लिए 24 मार्च की सुबह ही तय थी, मगर जनाक्रोश से डरी सरकार ने 23-24 मार्च की मध्यरात्रि ही इन वीरों की जीवनलीला समाप्त कर दी और रात के अंधेरे में ही सतलुज के किनारे उनका अंतिम संस्कार भी कर दिया।
23 मार्च 1931 को शाम में करीब 7 बजकर 33 मिनट पर भगत सिंह तथा इनके दो साथियों सुखदेव व राजगुरु को फाँसी दे दी गई।तीनों ने हँसते-हँसते देश के लिए अपना जीवन बलिदान कर दिया।
