इस बार 29 अगस्त 2015, शनिवार को रक्षाबंधन का त्योहार मनाया जाएगा। शनिवार को ही भद्रा योग भी रहेगा अत: भगवान शनिदेव और उनकी बहन भद्रा भी साथ-साथ ही रहेंगे। कहने का मतलब है कि इस बार का रक्षाबंधन कुछ खास रहेगा।
पौराणिक मान्यता के आधार पर देखें तो भद्रा का संबंध सूर्य और शनि से है। ज्ञात हो कि भद्रा भगवान सूर्य की कन्या है। सूर्य की पत्नी छाया से उत्पन्न है और शनि की सगी बहन है।
सूर्य के पुत्र शनिदेव का रंग-रूप श्याम वर्ण अर्थात काला है। शनि का स्वरूप इंद्रनीलमणि के समान है। वे गिद्ध पर सवार रहते हैं। उनके सिर पर स्वर्ण मुकुट, गले में माला तथा शरीर पर नीले रंग के वस्त्र सुशोभित हैं तथा हाथों में वे धनुष, बाण, त्रिशूल और वरमुद्रा धारण करते हैं। भद्रा का स्वरूप भी काला है।
भद्रा काले वर्ण, लंबे केश, बड़े-बड़े दांत तथा भयंकर रूप वाली कन्या है। भद्रा गर्दभ (गधे) के मुख और लंबे पूंछ और 3 पैरयुक्त उत्पन्न हुई। शनि की तरह ही इसका स्वभाव भी कड़क बताया गया है। उनके स्वभाव को नियंत्रित करने के लिए ही भगवान ब्रह्मा ने उन्हें कालगणना या पंचांग के एक प्रमुख अंग विष्टि करण में स्थान दिया।
शुक्ल पक्ष की भद्रा का नाम वृश्चिकी है। कृष्ण पक्ष की भद्रा का नाम सर्पिणी है। कुछ एक मतांतर से दिन की भद्रा सर्पिणी, रात्रि की भद्रा वृश्चिकी है। बिच्छू का विष डंक में तथा सर्प का मुख में होने के कारण वृश्चिकी भद्रा की पुच्छ और सर्पिणी भद्रा का मुख विशेषतः त्याज्य है।
धर्मशास्त्र के अनुसार जब भी उत्सव-त्योहार या पर्व काल पर चौघड़िए तथा पाप ग्रहों से संबंधित काल की बेला में निषेध समय दिया जाता है, वह समय शुभ कार्य के लिए त्याज्य होता है अत: इस रक्षाबंधन पर भद्रा योग के समाप्त होने के बाद ही रक्षाबंधन पर्व मनाना उचित रहेगा।
